Solar Supports the following UN Sustainable Development Goals

#4 SDG - Quality Education

Solar Sport One promotes technology for every age group, every level, any gender, anytime in a safe environment.

4.3 By 2030, ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university We supply a Long lasting Learning platform on solar energy, naval architecture, green technology, management and more for every individual and on every level for the age of 8-80 years.
4.4 By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship. The team effort, the multi disciplinary set of the teams and the challenge to engineer better then before makes the solar culture a unique mix of contestants to increase the interest in technology. Entrepreneurial spin-off has originated directly from solar racing. We support inventions by the teams by using it in the sport and finding commercial companies to buy; Solar Sport improves technical and social skills through the pressure-cooker of racing; We promote solar sport world wide and organize a race for international universities; clash of the uni’s.
4.4.1 Proportion of youth and adults with information and communications technology (ICT) skills, by type of skill The better teams have a set of simple to hardcore ICT plugs to lift the performance of the boat.
4.7 The NBC promotes gender equality by applying only one male and one female pilot.

#7 SDG - Affordable and Clean energy

A solar boat is the symbol for an autonomous energy platform, which is applicable for products which are capable to generate energy world wide.

7.1 By 2030, ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services
The efficiency award: We will stimulate, by regulation, competitors to improve the efficiency of their boats with 50% within the upcoming 10 years.
7.2 By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
Solar Sport One will modify technical regulation, to implement initiatives which directly contribute into a more green industry. Input by the teams will be collected during events and technical inspection. The teams set a new benchmark every year in original green prototyping for the industry.
7.3 By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency
Efficiency Improvement Index: We will report the efficiency improvements and facilitate this to the industry.

#14 SDG - Life Below Water

A solar boat is a light and silent design which minimizes sound disturbance for life below sea level. It uses power of the purest everlasting source: the sun.

14.1 By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution.
The green pasport: an annual document of each team which states the improvement on sustainable changes in their design, and material usage.
14.2 By 2020, sustainably manage and protect marine and coastal ecosystems to avoid significant adverse impacts, including by strengthening their resilience, and take action for their restoration in order to achieve healthy and productive oceans
By using an everlasting energy source it stops all dangerous aspects of fossil fuel and has no contribution to CO2 increase making it one of the best solutions for clean oceans.
14.A Increase scientific knowledge, develop research capacity and transfer marine technology, taking into account the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission Criteria and Guidelines on the Transfer of Marine Technology, in order to improve ocean health and to enhance the contribution of marine biodiversity to the development of developing countries, in particular small island developing States and least developed countries.
Solar power is a silent energy source which helps scientist to get closer to sea life.
