V01 - Engineers of Innovation - NL

Founded in August of 2016 and based in Amsterdam, Engineers of Innovation is an alumni society for people willing to continue learning and share their knowledge among the group in the form of projects. These projects allow us to work together within a team on great new innovative technologies. Engineers of Innovation is not just there for sharing knowledge, but also for the community. It is about sharing knowledge and having fun, even after graduation.

V02 - New Nexus Solar Racing Team - NL

In 2015 the company New Nexus formed an innovation group where the focus was primarily on gaining and sharing knowledge and experience instead of achieving a goal.

  • Bird of Prey was a part of this innovation group.
  • Bird of Prey is a V20 class boat designed by Vripack.
  • It was built by the team in 2016  during the weekends and the evening hours.
  • Our boat is equipped with 26 panels and numerous sensors.
  • It has been thoroughly updated in 2017 and  2019 as per the new rules and regulations.
  • The software  is a continuous process of innovation
  • The data is further converted into information and trends, which is then processed on a dashboard.
  • This provides important tactical information to our Solar Racing Team.

Which has resulted in the fact that since 2016 we have won several prizes and awards.

V03 - DB-20 Racing Team - NL

As a team, we try to do as much as possible by ourselves. Last season we invested in a new powertrain which has helped us become the world champion in the V20 class! This season we got new MPPT's and were focussing on optimizing our boat. Later this season we'll design our own new drivetrain which has a contra-rotating propeller, new T-shaped foils, and improvements in our data logging! Of course we are going to do many more beautiful developments this season, so keep an eye on our Facebook page!

V04 - DinamoCO - Solar Team Drenthe College - NL

DinamiCo has started since 2006 en since then upgraded their solarboat. Since 2013 Drenthe College bought the V20 boat that sailed races till 2016. The boat is used as a learning project for the students from the technical departments of the school. From 2016 till januari 2018 the project stopped. But since half a year a new group very ambitieus students is building on the boat en testing there progress in the races. The group with driver Sven together with Leroy, Melvin, Ruben, Nick, Bart, Raynor are working in an excellence program in this project. This year the are sailing with the older Torqueedo motor.

V05 - Koninklijke Marine - NL

Class 317BR has started the solar boat project as part of the Mechatronics-MBO-3 program and has set up the KMTO solo team 2018. The team is divided this year into three groups: the group that focuses entirely on solar boat Ra, a team that carries out a project concerning the trailer of the solar boat and a team that works.

V06 - University of Exeter - UK

SoleX is a combination of the words Solar and Exeter. We are a team of students from the University of Exeter, all studying renewable energy engineering. The team consists of students ranging from undergraduate right through to PhD from all around world (China, Equador, Nigeria, South Africa and of course the UK).

This is our first year in the competition so watch out for the new kids on the block!
