Purmerend – Yesterday we arrived in Purmerend, where the organisation has been working hard to get Solar Village ready and the teams were still working hard to get their boats ready for today’s first races.

We got such a warm welcome from the City of Purmerend and Beemster. Mayor Don Bijl and Joyce van Beek welcomed us during a diner in the city hall and afterwards we were able to present Solar Sport One, as well as Purmerend showed their beautiful city movie.

Today is going to be a tough day, the wind is strong and rain showers are ON at the moment. But the teams are making themselves ready for their first time trial of 48 km. The start is at 10 o’clock at Solar Village, where they will leave the city and go into nature. Into the UNESCO world heritage park.

The teams are going to start in 3 different starting groups, 10.00hr V20 class – 10.15hr A Class – 10.30hr Top Class. We expect them to be back between 12.00hr and 14.00hr.
You can follow the race live at our website page: live.
Or you can download the app Solar Boat World Cup Racing and follow there the race.
It will be an exciting weekend, in a few weeks we know who will be the World Champion in Monaco.
